FRANCHISE-DEFINING SIGNING: ALL-PRO QUARTERBACK NASHI CATRON JOINS THE GOLDEN STATE STORM FOR 2027 SEASON
OAKLAND, CA — The Golden State Storm today announced a landmark offensive acquisition ahead of the 2027 Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) season: the official signing of multi-time All-Pro quarterback Nashi Catron.
Catron, a commanding 6-foot, 200-pound dual-threat power signal-caller, joins the Storm following consecutive dominant seasons with the Kansas City Glory, where she earned back-to-back 1st Team All-Pro honors in 2024 and 2025. A proven winner with a deep history in California football, Catron previously led Team Supreme to victory as the overall Most Valuable Player at the 2022 WNFC All-Pro Game during her tenure with the Los Angeles Legends.
Before taking over the gridiron, Catron established her elite athletic base at the NCAA Division I level playing basketball for Pepperdine University. Her collegiate basketball background translated seamlessly into rare pocket presence, high-level spatial awareness, and game-breaking vision—making her one of the most physically imposing and high-impact passers in the WNFC today.
“We are building something special in Oakland, and adding a signal-caller of Nashi’s caliber accelerates our championship trajectory instantly,” said Jake Langner, Owner of the Golden State Storm. “Nashi’s D1 basketball roots give her a level of athleticism, vision, and poise under pressure that fits our culture perfectly. She is a proven leader who knows how to control the tempo of a game, absorb contact, and execute when the stakes are highest. Bringing her back home to California to command our offense is a massive statement for our franchise.”
A Powerhouse Offense for the Bay Area
Catron’s signing signals a major shift in the WNFC Pacific Conference landscape. Joining a surging Golden State core that features defensive elite Leilani Caamal and multi-time champion Destanie Yarbrough, Catron gives the Storm one of the most formidable, versatile roster lineups in women’s tackle football.
Off the field, Catron will actively support the Storm Ahead Foundation, partnering with local Bay Area initiatives to build pathways for young women and girls across both flag and tackle football platforms.
“I am thrilled to return to California and join the Golden State Storm,” said Nashi Catron.
“The vision of ownership, the electric crowd energy at Laney Stadium, and the sheer talent being assembled here made this the exact right place for me. My goal is clear: bring a relentless championship mindset to the Bay, elevate our offense, and help set the gold standard for women's professional sports.”
