ALL-PRO LINEBACKER ANGELICA “VENOM” GARCIA RE-SIGNS WITH THE GOLDEN STATE STORM FOR 2027 SEASON
OAKLAND, CA — The Golden State Storm today announced another major cornerstone deal for their defense ahead of the 2027 Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) season: the official re-signing of All-Pro linebacker Angelica “Venom” Garcia.
Known across the league for her relentless motor, sideline-to-sideline range, and bone-crushing hit power, "Venom" cemented her reputation as one of the premier defenders in women's tackle football last season. Finishing 3rd in total tackles in the entire WNFC, Garcia was a disruptive force for the Storm, consistently dismantling opposing run games and anchoring Oakland’s defensive front.
Her return ensures that Golden State will bring back one of the most dangerous and cohesive linebacking corps in the country, pairing her production alongside 2026 Defensive Player of the Year Leilani Caamal and defensive powerhouse Destanie Yarbrough.
“When you talk about setting the tone for a defense, Angelica 'Venom' Garcia is the definition of that standard,” said Jake Langner, Owner of the Golden State Storm. “Finishing third in the entire league in tackles wasn't by accident—it’s the result of her elite instincts, high motor, and fearless mentality on every single snap. Keeping Venom in Oakland was a top priority for our franchise as we build a championship-caliber team for 2027. She is a true leader, a fan favorite, and the heartbeat of our defense.”
Garcia’s return fortifies a Golden State unit designed to dominate the Pacific Conference. Off the field, Garcia will continue her active work in Northern California through the Storm Ahead Foundation, mentoring youth athletes and building opportunities for young girls across flag and tackle football.
“There was no doubt in my mind where I wanted to be,” said Angelica “Venom” Garcia. “What we are building here with the Storm is special. The energy from our fans at Laney Stadium, the culture in the locker room, and the ownership's commitment to setting the standard for women's sports is unmatched. We proved last season what this defense is capable of, and for 2027, the goal is simple: bring a championship ring back to the Bay Area.”
